Opposition leader Raila Odinga has given more information about the ongoing Huduma Namba registration, saying that the data will be useful in future exercises.

Speaking in Nyakatch, Kisumu county on Saturday, the former Prime Minister said that the data will be used in the approaching head counting exercise scheduled for later in the year.

Raila who has been spearheading the exercise alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta said that the data from Kenyans will be used to prevent cheating and manipulation in the census.

“Unlike in the past when census results were altered for political expediency, the 2019 exercise will guarantee fairness and reflect the true status of the country,” he was quoted by the Nation.

He added that the information will as well be important for the government in its future plans, by making itself familiar with the number of its subjects and the state they are in.

"We want to know how many people have entered the country, how many children are born, how many mothers are expectant, among other statistical data,” he added.

The African Union Infrastructure Envoy added that Kenya is rushing to catch up with other nations ranked ahead of her on matters technological advancements.

However, the exercise has been facing some opposition from Kenyans oinkingnit to satanism and others worried about the safety of their data.

However, it has been given a clean bill of heatjlh by majority of the notable political leaders in the country.
