Speaking at his office on Friday, Kigochi noted that girls under the age of 18 have flocked Kisii town to operate as sex workers, a situation that has left residents in shock.

He noted that in the last past week, the number of young girls spotted parading themselves outside night clubs in the town has gone up.

"Several underage girls have flocked Kisii town to operate as sex workers. Mostly at night you will find the twilight girls outside night clubs dressed skimpily to attract men," he said.

The county security chief blamed the menace on parents, saying they have failed in their parental responsibilities.

"Parents have failed to monitor their children's moves especially daughters who seem to be sneaking from their houses at night to flock Kisii town to engage in sex trade during the April holiday," he added.

Kigochi appealed to parents to take their parental responsibilities seriously adding that failure to do so will lead to more underage girls engaging in the illegal business.

He, however, noted that the girls don't only hail from Kisii but from neighbouring counties like Migori, Kisumu and Homa Bay.
