Estranged Migori Governor is not welcome in Homa Bay County, the home to slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno, the court has ruled.
Justice Jessie Lessit however, released Mr. Obado, who has been in jail for over one month, on Sh5 million cash bail.
In her ruling, the tough-talking judge also banned Mr. Obado from making pronouncements in political rallies about Sharon's murder, in which he was linked indirectly.
"The first accused will not be allowed to travel 20 kilometres from his hometown. Homa Bay County will not be accessible for him since he might interfere with evidence.
"He should not make pronouncements on the case in political rallies. He must also deposit his travel documents in court besides not contacting witnesses or the family of the deceased," she said.
But it was a tragedy for his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, who were directly linked to the gruesome murder, after the judge ordered that they are remanded until May 2019 when the case will be on trial.
Obado has been in custody for over a month with prosecutors accusing him of plotting the execution of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno, who was buried last week.
Should Obado violate the strict bail rules, the judge added, he will be arrested and remanded until the trial next year.
Interestingly, Obado will not be allowed to seek for the adjournment of the case once the trial starts in May.
Homa Bay county neighbours Migori and the distance from his Uriri home to neighbouring Suba is barely 10 kilometres.
