A middle-aged woman of Friday left a church congregation at Nyamagwa PAG Church in shock after she interrupted a wedding ceremony, claiming that the groom had sired a child with her a few years ago before losing touch with him.
The lady, identified as Irene Kebagendi, claimed that she has been looking for the groom, Jared Ogachi, for the last three years, until on Friday morning when a close friend informed her that the man was getting married at Nyamagwa PSG church.
Kebagendi said she decided to go to the church to confirm whether the reports were true.
“I would like to know why the man who impregnated me went missing for all those years as I am the one who is supposed to be his wife. I won’t let the wedding continue before the issue is solved,” said Kabagendi.
Ogachi, however, denied the allegations, arguing that Kabagendi cut communication with him following an argument they had about the pregnancy.
The groom said he decided to get married to another woman since the last time he saw Kabagendi was three years ago.
“I have not done anything wrong as the woman went missing with my child and I had no time to waste as I wanted to settle down and begin a family,” said Ogachi.
It, however, took the intervention of the clergy as well as the parents of the groom and bride to calm the woman down.
The wedding later went ahead as planned.
