Speaking during KPC open day in Nakuru, acting manager in charge of connectivity Engineer Joseph Gathuru says this is in line with the company’s move to address challenges of power interruptions to customers.

He added that the government has given funds to the company through the Kenya Rural Electrification Authority to ensure all households are connected by the year 2022.

“We are addressing the challenges of power interruptions by refurbishing our substations. For instance in Nakuru we have spent close to 1 billion shilling on the same,” he said.

And in line with economic growth, Gathuru revealed that the company has commenced the engagement to ensure there are no frequent power interruptions in areas of small medium enterprises operation.

This will be a boost to the SMEs who according to President Uhuru Kenyatta are key in the growth of the economy.

“Recently the Head of state talked a lot about the SMEs and as a company we are engaging to ensure connectivity and that there are no power interruptions,” added Gathuru.

He warned those doing illegal power connections in slum areas.

“We want to tell Kenyans not to pay any money to illegal power connectors. The last mile connectivity is there and will ensure every Kenyan is connected,” said Gathuru.
