There is currently high panic in Nyamira County after eight (8) Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers from Nairobi camped at the county officers the better part of Thursday probing graft allegations involving the construction of Nyamira County Assembly Chambers.
The officers stormed the Assembly secretary Duke Onyari's office and demanded to be served with crucial documents over the construction of the Assembly building.
A county worker who requested for anonymity said the Director of Criminal Investigation officers didn't give notice to the county government.
"No one was aware that the DCI officers were to visit the county to probe the alleged graft. All employees were caught off-guard," said the source.
The source further admitted that corruption has been on the rise in the county administration.
"Nyagarama has never been serious in the fight in graft. He is only interested in appointing close family members and allies to serve in his government so that they can help him in embezzling county funds," the source claimed.
The county worker confirmed that the relationship between Nyagarama and his Deputy Amos Nyaribo may worsen because the county boss has been making decisions on his won.
