President Uhuru Kenyatta may have yet again fired warning shots to his unsettled deputy over continued politicking that has seen his government struggle in implementing development agenda.
At Murang'a, Uhuru who was attending funeral service of musician Joseph Kamaru, warned Kenyans against politics of money.
“I would like to tell Kenyans that they should not be misled into politics of money,” he said.
The DP has been moving around the country to attend harambees and other social functions where he donates huge sums of money, and often triggering debate.
Recently, his office was put on notice after it started procuring a helicopter and Fixed aircraft to facilitate his movements across the country.
He also hit at leaders who are obsessed with politics, especially in the wake of early campaigns for 2022.
“Let us not be misled. Competitive politics must end. The animosity and hatred during election time should also end."
During the occasion, ODM leader Raila Odinga insisted that his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta has nothing to do with 2022 elections.
"This is not about 2022. It will come and go but Kenya shall remain. The handshake is everlasting."
