Political analyst Ambrose Weda has weighed in on the apparent new peaceful coexistence between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

The two were earlier in the year involved in a public outburst as each bashed the other, with the President at some point vowing to punish the county chief who was equally ruthless with his words.

In March, Uhuru who had apparently ordered the blocking of Joho from attending an event he was attending in Likoni and went ahead to threaten him of dire consequences as a result of his constant attacks on the Head of State.

"They should stop following me. I am not his wife. He should come here and explain what he has done for this country. He (Joho) should not play with us or we will teach him a lesson," Uhuru was quoted by the Standard.

However, the situation seems to have changed over time as was apparent when the Governor hosted Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto for the launch of the Kenya Coast Guard Service at Liwatoni on Monday.

According to Weda in an interview on KBC English Service's 'The Big Conversation' on Wednesday morning, Uhuru's willingness to once again dine with the man he had sworn to deal with is due to his quickness to forgive and the fact that he does not hold grudges.

''Uhuru can throw tantrums when angry but does not hold grudges. He must have keenly observed the Governor, understood him and saw no need to hit back at him,'' he said.

In March, Uhuru also reconciled with opposition leader Raila Odinga who had vowed to reject his August 8 and October 26 re-elections.
