The Ethiopia Civil Aviation Authority and Ethiopian Transport Authority have embarked on investigations into the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 passenger jet crash.

The jet crashed 6 minutes after leaving Addis Ababa while on its way to Nairobi, Kenya. All the passengers and members crew including the pilot perished following the incident.  

A special team has been set up to help in identifying the bodies of the victims and delivering them to the families following the incident. 

A statement from the airline indicates that the rescue operations team is out to determine the cause of the accident as the family wait for answers following the tragic incident. 

“Investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the accident, in collaboration with all the stakeholders, including the aircraft manufacturer Boeing and other international entities," read part of the Statement as quoted by Daily Nation.

 The pilot of the plane, Captain Yared Mulugeta, an Ethiopian-born Kenyan national, reportedly tried to return to Addis Ababa after experiencing some difficulties before the plane crashed.

 Leaders from all over the world have continued to send their messages of condolence after the plane crashed leaving everyone on board dead. The families are still waiting for updates following the incident.
