A middle aged woman died on spot on Tuesday after she touched a naked electricity wire.
The incident happened at Kambini village in Esani, Masaba North in Nyamira County.
Confirming the incident Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said the deceased identified as Kwamboka was putting her wet clothes on the electricity wire to dry when she was hit by shock.
“The deceased died on spot because she came into contact with a naked electricity wire. Her body was immediately moved to Nyamira hospital morgue waiting for burial,” he said.
The county security boss assured that Kenya Power has already been contacted to remove the naked wire.
He warned residents against using electricity wires as hangers when washing their clothes.
“Electricity wires should not be turned to be hangers for hanging wet clothes to dry. Members of the public are advised to keep distance from coming into contact with electricity wires. Parents should not allow their children to play near electricity wires,” he added.
Nakoru urged Kenyan Power officials to ensure naked wires across the county are repaired to curb unnecessary deaths.
