The angry Bodaboda riders took to the MCA’s home and forced her to take them to the Kisumu County City Hall where they took a tractor, forcing the driver to go and finish the roads which have always remained in bad status. They said roads in Manyatta B Ward have been impassable, saying that that has hindered their daily business operations.

On Tuesday Paul Ochieng, Manyatta B bodaboda CBO chair told the media that they were forced to take the ugly step after a mother who was carrying her child almost lost their lives after they fall in a ditch full of water in the middle of the road.

“We decided to take this step because we saw a mother and an infant drowning after they had felt in a ditch full of water in the middle of the road,” said Ochieng.

The Manyatta B bodaboda CBO boss urged his area MCA to assign the youths the job of maintaining bad roads within the ward, adding that they are not going to wait for the engineers or contractors any longer.

Manyatta B MCA Pamela Odhiambo on her side lauded the bodaboda operators for taking such step, revealing that she has made several attempts to comb the bad roads within her ward but the sub-county administrator has been a stumble block.

“When we had floods I called the sub-county admin but he did not respond. I am glad you have come don’t allow this tractor to go,” urged Pamela Odhiambo.

The disappointed bodaboda operators also accused the County Government of Kisumu for failing to heed to their call when disaster knocks, adding that during floods they requested for tractors but none came to their rescue.
