Political analyst George Kithi has claimed that opposition leader Raila Odinga’s inclusion in government operations is solely aimed at safeguarding President Uhuru Kenyatta’s policies.

Speaking on KBC English Service on Wednesday, Kithi noted that the former Prime Minister’s current deployment as top diplomat is meant to neutralize him and his opposition brigade.

He observed that by being given errands to run in the government, the Orange party chief will have no time and will see no need of opposing the government, therefore giving Uhuru ample space to concentrate on his ideologies.

‘’The President wants to keep Raila busy and closer to stop any form of opposition on his leadership from Raila’s quarters,’’ he said.

The commentator added that Odinga’s acceptance of the offer has as well united the nation, further simplifying Uhuru's job, unlike previously when the nation was divided.

He added that the Odinga-Kenyatta union is equally beneficial to Uhuru’s allies, especially those eyeing political seats in the coming polls, as they now have the freedom to conduct their politicking all over the nation without fear of hostility or rejection.

‘’The President knows that he can only fight the nation’s existing challenges if the nation is galvanized and needs Odinga to realize that. This also goes to Uhuru’s allies who might be opposed to the union as they can now tour the entire nation, including the opposition zones, freely and carry out their politics,’’ added the commentator.
