The attorney general of the Republic of Kenya Paul Kihara Kariuki has pointed fingers to the judiciary, blaming them for what he termed as using their independence to 'cripple' justice.
Speaking at the Supreme Court of Kenya during the swearing in ceremony of the new EACC Boss Twalib Abdallah Mbarak, Kihara said, there is need for the Judiciary to do what is right.
"Judicial independence cannot be a substitute for not doing what is right," observed Kihara.
He took a swipe at the Judiciary, noting that the government was committed to channeling resources towards the fight against economic crimes.
Kihara, who took over from Prof. Githu Muigai as the country's attorney general, assured Kenyans that the government is Keen and focused on ensuring resources are used for the intended purposes.
He applauded Mr.Twalib Mbarak for the new role he has been mandated by the people of Kenya and wished him well in the new venture and dispensation.
In the recent past, the Judiciary has been on the spotlight for slow trials, adjournment of cases and corruption among judicial officers which has been connected to 'denial of justice to the Kenyan people'.
