Obwocha, who served as West Mugirango MP for three uninterrupted terms since 1992, died on Saturday morning at Nairobi Hospital.

Former Bogichora Ward aspirant Douglas Oindo recalled how Obwocha embarrassed Moi in 2000 forcing him to rescind his decision to donate a bus to Sironga Girls High School.

"Obwocha always spoke his mind. He was one of defiant loyal opposition MPs and at one time he embarrassed Moi.

"When Moi visited Sironga with a school bus, Obwocha insisted the region was an opposition stronghold and that his blood was in Ford Kenya, forcing Moi to angrily walk away with a donated bus," he recalled.

Throughout his period in Ford Kenya, Obwocha was one of opposition figures along with former Kitutu Masaba MP George Anyona in Gusii region.

However, he would join government while in Ford People after Simon Nyachae resolved to back Mwai Kibaki.

Until his death, he was the serving chairman, Privatisation Commission, a position he was appointed in 2015.
