Police officers in Nakuru County are looking for Caroline Jepchirchir’s boyfriend after she was found dead on Wednesday evening.

Jepchirchir, a prison warder at the Nakuru Women’s Prison was found dumped in a thicket at Githioro village in Subukia, Nakuru County.

Nakuru East Sub County police commander Ellena Wairimu who confirmed the incident said Jepchirchir was in the company of two of her colleagues before she went missing.

The two, according to the Sub County police commander, were her boyfriend and another suspect named Joseph Kairu.

Wairimu said they have managed to arrest Kairu who is in police custody and is being questioned by the police.

The police boss was quoted by Daily Nation saying investigations revealed that the two suspects were last seen with Jepchirchir before she went missing on April 3, this year.

“We have managed to arrest one suspect in connection with her disappearance. The boyfriend who was also seen with her before she disappeared is still at large,” said Wairimu.

“The body was discovered by police in Githioro who took it to Nyahururu mortuary. Investigations into the incident are ongoing,” she added.

The body of the deceased had multiple injuries on the head and chest, indications she could have been assaulted by her alleged abductor.
