Fielding questions from renowned Kenyan journalist Jeff Koinange, the Kirinyaga governor hailed what she called the ability of Ruto to make intelligent assessments.

"I think the deputy president is a very intelligent man. Extremely intelligent... I should at this point that the country wouldn't have better leaders in the president and his deputy.  I think he is very intelligent and he knows how to make his assessments with regards to politics," she said.

Waiguru's words are in sharp contrast to what the deputy president said about her at the height of the National Youth Service  (NYS) scandal.

The deputy president had fired shots at her then, accusing her of corruption.
