Each parliamentarian elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket will contribute Sh50,000 towards the party candidate for Kibra Imran Okoth.
The decision was made when the party leader Raila Odinga chaired a Parliamentary Group meeting at the parliament, with the money aimed at helping Imran secure the seat.
Raila as well directed his lieutenants to held with the campaigns, which will see all of them pitch camp in Kibra to help with Imran's campaigns.
Confirming the same, party elections boss Junet Mohammed said that the meeting was more about the Kibra debate, adding that members are not limited to the agreed amount.
“The meeting was majorly about the Kibra campaigns. We want to involve the MPs. We have agreed on a certain amount, but we have said they can contribute as much as they can," said the Suna East lawmaker.
Imran, brother to immediate former area MP the late Ken Okoth who died in July, is currently considered among the frontrunners in the race.
So far, he has managed to receive endorsements from a number of parliamentarians from other parties, including Jubilee Party's Maina Kamanda and Muranga Senator Irungu Kang'ata.
Others arw Amani National Congress (ANC) members Godfrey Osotsi and Vihiga Senator George Khaniri.
This is despite the fact that Jubilee and ANC have fronted McDonald Mariga and Eliud Owalo in that order.
