Emmanuel Talam, Ruto's deputy press secretary, told the Sunday Nation that he can't understand why the DP is yet to move to the residence.

The government decided to renovate the former residence for coast Provincial Commissioner to allow the DP to spend during his official working hours.

But Talam says some individuals believe Ruto will use the residence for political mobilisation in the coastal region.

“I have no idea why the DP has not moved into the house,” he said, according to Nation.

“He spent (the night) at his usual place when in Mombasa, which is at the English Point Marina. The DP’s residence is complete and ready to be occupied. Probably someone is unhappy that the DP will have a base to coordinate his activities at the coast if he moves in. It is all politics,” Emmanuel Talam added.

The DP has an official residence in Karen, Nairobi but he only uses it for meeting government delegations as well as political supporters.

He prefers sleeping at his private Karen residence, where he has stayed for decades since joining politics.
