Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja and MCAs has held a meeting with his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho amid fallout with his MCAs.
Samboja survived an impeachment last month but his relationship with assembly has been hot and cold for several years now.
Last month, a senior ODM official dragged Deputy President William Ruto to Taita Taveta wrangles, claiming that MCAs had been instructed to frustrate Samboja.
“We are aware that the DP met the MCAs twice and they also met some of his supporters in Nairobi and Mombasa,” Thomas Jumwa.
“The MCAs are the deputy president’s guns for hire. That assembly’s resolution will not see the light of the day even after it is presented to the Senate for further action,” he added.
On Wednesday, all MCAs from Taita Taveta held a closed-door meeting with Joho and Samboja, with the standoff expected to be solved.
Joho said: "Welcoming my Taita Taveta Counterpart H.E Granton Samboja ahead of a meeting with his County Assembly Members in my office . Looking forward to fruitful discussions."
President Uhuru Kenyatta received report from IEBC following a petition to dissolve the county government launched by Samboja.
The Electoral Commission approved the signatures, giving the president an okay to move on with plans to constitute a tribunal that would investigative the standoff.
Wednesday's meeting could be informed by calls to withdraw the petition after the MCAs managed to pass the 2019/20 budget which was among the topical issues.
