A woman was on Tuesday arraigned in court over allegations of giving false information about Deputy President William Ruto.
Jane Nduku Makau was charged at the Makueni Law Courts after she allegedly fooled a headteacher of a local school that Ruto would attend a fundraiser at the school.
Nduku who is alleged to have identified herself an ally of the DP reportedly informed Unoa Primary School headteacher Philip Musyoki Kiema that the DP would preside over the function that was set for April 7.
It later turned out that the same was a lie, said the prosecution side in its case to resident magistrate Joan Otieno.
Nduku was charged with giving false information.
The school head is said to have mobilised and lined up his pupils to entertain the DP and guests that were to attend, only to learn with a shock later in the evening that there was no such event planned.
The accused denied the charge. She was released on Sh50,000 bond or Sh30,000 cash bail. The next hearing on the case was set for May 8.
However, she was remanded after failing to raise the money, reports the Nation.
