A section of Uasin Gishu residents has urged Governor Jackson Mandago to tarmac the street in Eldoret town in efforts to improve the infrastructure within the Central Business District (CBD).
The residents are now appealing to the second term governor to deliver the pledges he made during his campaign in 2017, arguing that it has taken too long for the county government to implement key projects in the county.
“We need modern social halls (amphitheatres) for youths to showcase talents and to hold conferences. These are facilities that will foster this town to be elevated to a city,” Gilbert Kiprotich, a businessman.
Kiprotich also called on the county government to focus on constructing and unblocking drainage systems before the onset of the rainy season.
Rotich Collins, a student at the University of Eldoret, said that the Mandago-led government has delayed in installing wireless network services at the Nandi Park, a resting bay located in town, to facilitate online research by youths and students.
“Since it’s his final term, the governor should focus on accomplishing projects to establish his legacy before retiring in 2022,” said Rotich.
“We have to keep our governor on toes to ensure he delivers what he promised youths and business owners including hasting the renovation of the CBD market,” added Bethwel, a businessman.
