A section of politicians from the North Rift region has revealed plans to secure a meeting with retired President Mwai Kibaki.
Led by Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and several legislators in the region, the leaders say they want a meeting with Kibaki so as to get a political advice from the former head of state.
Speaking in Soy constituency, the leaders noted that as a retired president, Kibaki has experience on governance issues and would provide a perfect advice on various issues in the country.
“We as leaders from Rift Valley, we are looking for an appointment to see Kibaki. He is a former head of state who accomplished a lot during his tenure and will definitely have valuable advice to us,” said Mandago.
“He the first president to build a superhighway and so it will be good if we also visited him,” added the vocal county boss.
This comes at a time the North Rift leaders especially those allied to Deputy President William Ruto have failed to secure an appointment to meet another former president Daniel Moi.
A visit to Mzee Moi’s Kabarak home has always been politicized with allies of the DP claiming the Baringo Senator Gideon Moi was selectively allowing a few leaders to see the country’s second president.
