Masinga MCA Tariq Mulatya has said Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's sore relationship with county legislatures began after they refused to vote Benard Mungata as the assembly's Speaker.
Mulatya said the governor wanted them to elect Mungata as the Speaker of the Machakos county assembly.
"Our fight with Mutua hasn't begun now, it started when we failed to elect the speaker he was imposing on us. Mutua wanted Mungata but we chose Florence Mwangangi," Mulatya said.
He said the MCAs will not accept to be ordered around by the governor.
Mulatya said the assembly is also not ready to dance Mutua's tune.
He said the previous lot failed to be re- elected since they were eating from the governor's palm.
"Tanzania, Mombasa and Uganda trips cost the previous MCAs their seats and we're not following that road, we will stand with what is right," he said.
The Machakos county assembly has been at loggerheads with the executive for quite some time now.
The MCAs are set to stage a demonstration against the governor.
They are protesting alleged impunity and mismanagement of public funds by Governor Mutua and his administration.
Mutua, two weeks ago, accused Machakos Speaker Florence Mwangangi of sabotaging his government.
