You will be surprised why Mtwapa has gained much fame across Kenya and even beyond, and yet it is not even a city like Nairobi, Mombasa or Kisumu.
Everyone visiting the Coast will not have it all unless he/s visits Mtwapa town. The town is found about 15 km from Mombasa city to the North.
For many years now, the town is much known for its weird title 'Sin City'. What is a sin city anyway?
Basing on Wikipedia's definition, "Sin City is an urban area (a city or part of) that caters to various vices. These vices may be legal (depending on area) or illegal activities which are tolerated. Examples of vices include sex-related services (prostitution, strip clubs, sex shops, etc), gambling (casinos, betting shops, etc), or drug use (alcohol, marijuana, etc. consumption), and even excessive organized crime and gang activity. If the city is known for prostitution, it is often called a red-light district.
The definition above paints a real picture of Mtwapa town, which makes it suit the name 'Sin City'.
