Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang' Nyong'o has come under fire from former gubernatorial rival Dr Hezron Otieno Mc'obewa over his alleged overwhelming 'appetite' for foreign trips.
Mc’obewa who has over the years turned into Nyong’o’s biggest critic has directed a scathing attack at the County Chief claiming that he is in Brussels to promote his new book, which he cheekily titled ‘How to rule from abroad' after he flew out of the country.
’“Prof Nyong’o is back on his feet doing what he loves most- globe-trotting. This week he is in Brussels promoting his new book: “How to rule from abroad.” Back home, the much-hyped UHC rollout is on alpine ice. Viva!” Mc’obewa posted on Facebook.
However, according to the professor's communication unit, he is in Belgium to attend the European Commission's forum on cities and regions for development co-operation courtesy of an invitation from the European Committee of the Regions and the European Commission (EC).
“The Governor will also speak at a side event of the United Cities and Local Governments in Africa (UCLGA) alongside eight other prominent leaders from Africa,” read a statement released by his communication team.
“The main highlight of the forum will be the launch of a new grant to support global/international framework for local sustainable development,” added the statement.
This comes a few moments after Kisumu county nurses downed their tools this morning highlighting the county government's negligence to heed to their grievances as agreed upon when they signed a return to work formula in 2017.
