Catherine Wanjiru, a 40-year-old Kiambu resident, has left locals inspired due to the huge amount of money she pockets on a daily basis.
Wanjiru, a mother of two, revealed how she managed to get capital to start the business, which is her source of income."I began the business of selling vegetables after my husband secured a loan from his close friend in 2015," Wanjiru said. However, Wanjiru notes that she went through several challenges before her business became stable."Before I gained experience in this business of selling vegetables, I faced many challenges which included low income due to the fact that I had very few customers but now I earn enough money to sustain my family," she said.Wanjiru was also able to open a video hall for her husband using the profit she made from her business."It's something unusual but sincerely speaking my husband is under my payroll. He operates my video hall and pool tables which I secured after saving my profits," said Wanjiru."I pocket Sh3,000 daily from selling vegetables because I supply the vegetables to some of the secondary schools within Kiambu. I also earn Sh2,000 from the pool tables and Sh3,000 from the video hall. In total, I make up to Sh8,000 a day from all my three businesses,” she added.Wanjiru, who also sells her vegetables at a local market, said she has plans to expand her businesses.“With the money I earn from my businesses, I am able to pay school fees for my two children in secondary school. I intend to secure more tenders to supply the vegetables to more schools and also establish another video hall where I can set up pool tables because they earn me good profit," she said.#MyJob
