Kabogo was responding to a tweet by renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who had criticised a section of the media for allegedly defaming Deputy President William Ruto by linking him to a “police houses scandal”.

In his response, Kabogo accused the Kenyan media of tarnishing people’s names with the sole purpose of making newspaper sales.

Duncan Baliat, a Twitter user, responded to Kabogo’s tweet, noting that reports indicate that the flamboyant politician had allegedly been mentioned in the drug trafficking case facing the Akasha brothers.

The tweet seems to have irked Kabogo who in a sarcastic response said Baliat’s mother had also been implicated in the case.

Baktash Akasha and Ibrahim Akasha were extradited to the US on January 31, 2017 to face drug-related charges. The two are alleged to be leaders of an international drug trafficking network.

Last week, the brothers made a deal in which they pleaded guilty to charges of drug trafficking, bribery, violence and murder. The move will see them receive a lenient jail term instead of being sentenced to life in prison.

The brothers are also said to have named 13 prominent Kenyan individuals who are reported to be engaging in the illegal trade.
