Before the Sunday's dramatic events, sections of Jubilee leaders piled pressure on President Uhuru to sack Murathe over what they termed as disrespect to Deputy President William Ruto.

"I am asking the president to sack this drunkard Murathe and look for sober people to take over the position. His main aim is to carelessly attack Ruto without any mistake committed," Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi said.

At a funeral in Rarieda on Saturday, Murathe, a close ally of Uhuru, threatened to move to Supreme Court to block Ruto from ascending to power, claiming he's too dangerous to lead.

But in an interview with KTN News, Murathe insisted that he opted out of the seat since most people were linking his statements to the Head of State.

"There is this narrative that I speak on behalf of the president. People claim that I have been sent to speak. This has nothing to do with Uhuru. It's my personal views which I still hold.

"In fact, I didn't tell Uhuru that I was resigning. He would have perhaps asked me not to. I will now be able to pursue my agenda without these people dragging the president," said Murathe.

Asked whether he will remain in Jubilee, Murathe said 'he's considering options and perhaps could join a new party which is in the offing'.

On Ruto, he Insisted that he will come up with 'block Ruto movement' m, adding that it has a backing of several MPs who are yet to come out in public and speak about it.
