Remaining suspects in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno were on Thursday released from prison.
The two who are Migori Governor Okoth Obado's aide Michael Oyamo and Migori county official Caspal Obiero were released on a Ksh1 million cash bail each.
The two have been in custody for five months since their arrest after their implication in Sharon's murder in September last year.
They appeared before appellate court Judges Mohammed Warsame, William Ouko and Otieno Odek who faulted high court judge Jessie Lessit for denying them bail last year.
Justice Lessit had based her ruling on an argument that releasing the two would cause anxiety among witnesses as they have the ability to interfere with the case when outside.
“There is strong evidence against the second and third accused, releasing them now will send anxiety to witnesses.
"There is also a likelihood of them absconding based on the seriousness of the charge,” she was quoted by the Standard.
Lessit, however, released Governor Obado who was the chief suspect and a boyfriend to the deceased at the time on a Ksh5 million cash bail and two sureties of a similar amount.
But the jury ruled that there were no reasons compelling the duo to remain in custody, adding that the initial ruling went against the rights of the two.
Sharon's lifeless body was found in a thicket near Oyugis Town in Homabay County on September 3, two days after being kidnapped outside Graca Hotel in Rongo, Migori.
She was heavily pregnant at the time.
