Boniface Mwangi on Monday  said unless the former prime minister retires from active politics, the region where he enjoys majority support in the country may dishonour him.

"Calling me an idler or a busy man does not change the facts," Mwangi said in a tweet.

"People die, especially Luos have died fighting for justice, Raila Odinga shakes hands with the killers and moves on as if nothing happened. Raila should retire honourably and failure to do so, his base will dishonour him."

This is not the first-time such calls are being directed to the former prime minister who is now 73 years old.

In the run-up to the August 8th, general elections in 2017 leaders from the Jubilee Party told the former Langata MP to acknowledge the fact that his contribution in the democratization process in Kenya is known and should therefore retire.

Raila has, however, maintained that he is not old enough to quit active politics.

Mwangi made the remark as he responded to a tweet directed to him by ODM Communications Director Philip Etale who had said: "I repeat and you can send your dogs to attack me on this... You are an idler who has lost the stature in society. Your ranting and lazy talk don't inspire anyone anymore. Keep shouting mate."
