Football fans and players in Kisumu County will hold a one-day football tournament cum fundraiser in honour of the late James Oduor Radido a.k.a Odu Cobra.

The tournament has been set for Friday, January 25, 2019 and will be held at the Kisumu’s Moi Stadium starting 3 PM.

“Together for Odu. Mboka presents one-day tournament/fundraiser Friday 25th January 2019 – 3 PM – Moi Stadium, Kisumu. Participating teams: Veterans, Bus Park, Luodich, Stima Wazee. Kisumu based KPL and NSL players select. There will be a candle-lighting session after the matches,” reads a poster announcing the event. 

Odu Cobra was among 21 people who died after terrorists attacked the DusitD2 Hotel complex at the 14 Riverside drive in Nairobi last week.

He was working for South Korean Company LG, with the Company’s local offices based at the DusitD2 hotel complex.

He was an ardent football fan, player and Sports journalist running the popular Wadau TV channel on youtube. 

He played for Hippos FC and the Kisumu Diaspora team. He will be buried on February 02, 2019 in Ukwala, Siaya County. 

He leaves behind a wife and two young children, a boy and a girl.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa is among various soccer stakeholders in the Country who sent sympathy messages following the death of Odu.
