Kenya Premier League (KPL) side AFC Leopards has a new Coach. Rwandese Andre Casa Mbungo has been given the chance to take charge at the former KPL Champions.
Mbungo replaces Serbian Marko Vasiljevic, who quit after the team was beaten 4-1 by Bandari FC in a KPL match in Mombasa on Sunday.
“We have a new coach. AFC Leopards has appointed Rwandese Andre Casa Mbungo as our new coach on a one and a half year deal. Andre replaces Marko Vasiljevic who parted company with the club on Monday. Welcome to the den Andre,” the club said in a statement released on Tuesday morning.
Mbungo, has previously handled Rwandan top-flight side Kiyovu. Among his former players are strikers Jacques Tuyisenge and Francis Mustapha, now playing for AFC Leopards' arch-rivals Gor Mahia.
The new Coach’s major assignment will be to drag AFC Leopards out of the relegation area. The team is currently 15th on the 18-team-KPL table with 10 points after 10 matches.
Ingwe has won only two of the 10 matches, drawn four and lost on four occasions among them back to back defeats against Bandari and Zoo Kericho.
The new Coach will be dragged into action right away as the team plays Mount Kenya United (formerly Nakumatt FC) at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday.
