Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has confirmed that he is proud of being a Kisii.
According to Matiang'i, he has no regrets being a Kisii and he enjoys the Gusii community culture.
"I am a proud Kisii and those of us who doesn't feel proud of their communities are just desperate individuals. The Gusii culture must be embraced no matter what," he said.
Matiang'i challenged youths not to ignore the Gusii community's culture.
"Our young people in deep villages across Gusii region should live in line with the community's culture. The Western culture which youths are trying to follow won't take them anywhere," added Matiang'i.
He regretted that some parents have neglected their parental duties of bringing up their children as by the Gusii community culture.
Matiang'i, however, warned that outlawed practices in the community won't be condoned.
"Practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) should never be practised in our community. Parents more especially women should stop forcing young girls to undergo illegal practice. Anyone who will be caught will face the full force of the law," he said.
