Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen now seems to have given up on Mau Forest debacle in his latest remarks over the ongoing evictions.

Instead, Murkomen, the Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator, now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to personally visit the region and make his stand known to the public.

“It is sad to see children being denied their right to go to school, parents surviving without shelter or even food,” said Murkomen, in a rather somber mood.

He added: “The president I campaigned for has not changed, if he has, I’d have known. I challenge him to now come over and declare his stand; whether he is for people or the County Commissioner.”

Hundreds of families have been flushed from Kenya’s arguably second largest water catchment with a section of Rift Valley leaders blaming some operatives within government.

In May, Deputy President William Ruto preempted the government’s decision to flush illegal occupants in the water catchment thus the ongoing implementation by various government agencies.
