Migori County Governor Zachary Okoth Obado and Siaya Senator James Bob Orengo are among respected senior Luo politicians.
But the two have always heard a frosty relationship, so to speak. Theirs is a love-hate relationship arising from different political views and stands.
At a burial ceremony in Migori County on April 26, 2014, the two exchanged bitter insults and had to be restrained from fighting.
KTN News reported on Weekend Prime that trouble started after Suna East Member of Parliament (MP) Junet Mohammed called the County chief to address the mourners before Senator Orengo.
The Governor felt that as the Migori County Chief, he was supposed to speak after Senator Orengo and not the other way round.
The two leaders alongside their supporters then engaged in a confrontation with bitter words and insults renting the air.
However, there were those who played the peace makers role and managed to calm down matters.
It is not clear why Junet called the governor to speak before Orengo, but many will remember that in 2013, Obado was elected on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) stronghold.
He joined PDP after losing during the ODM party primaries to Professor Edward Oyugi, though he maintains that he was rigged out during the exercise.
