A smartly dressed Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday hosted visiting Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi at State House Mombasa in a meeting that also featured members of the Makonde community.

But hawk-eyed citizens could not hesitate to troll the country's number two after noticing that he was putting on shoes without socks.

"Seems today he's damn tired. I have never seen him dress like this. Rachael Ruto should take responsibility," joked Edna Kwamboka on Nyamira County WhatsApp group.

Another user James Ndemo added: "Dangers of handling many things at ago. Remember farmers are also on his neck. Kindly don't criticise him."

It was the first ever meeting the DP took around a visiting Head of State, a function solely preserved for a sitting president.

At the function, Ruto, who was perhaps enjoying the coastal breeze, said the government will ensure that all Makonde community people get government Identification cards.

"They are the 43rd tribe in Kenya and we want to expedite the process. Many have been documented already," he told President Nyusi.
