The elders, who addressed media on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting, said Ruto is the man who has chances of becoming president after President Uhuru Kenyatta retires.

They have called on Baringo senator Gideon Moi to suspend his ambition of running for the top seat and support his ‘brother Ruto’.

“We urge all leaders, including Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, to unanimously support Ruto, who is the Rift Valley political kingpin and is a stone’s throw from the presidency.

We need not gamble with this chance,” Joel Koech, an elder and a member of the caucus said.

Interestingly, while speaking on Sunday in Sotik, Gideon said he has not declared an interest to run for the top seat. He wondered why DP Ruto’s supporters are getting jittery of him.
