In an interview with the Sunday Nation, Garissa Township MP, who is also the National Assembly Majority Leader, tried to downplay claims that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila is to blame for the current state of affairs in Jubilee.

According to Duale, the Uhuru-Raila deal is meant to unite the country after the divisive 2017 election and that it has nothing to do with 2022 politics which has bee at the center of the recent Jubilee one week of political madness.

"The handshake between the President and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is the beginning of building a peaceful and stable Kenya. All of us in Jubilee, from Dr Ruto down to MCAs and to our grassroots supporters, have embraced the handshake", said Duale as quoted by Sunday Nation.

Key President Kenyatta allies including former Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe have to block Ruto's 2022 presidential bid saying that he should retire with the President.
