Head of Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Erick Onchana was on Tuesday evening arrested and detained in Nyamira Police Station.
Police officers descended on Mr Onchana's officer minutes at 4pm and subsequently handcuffed him before escorting him under tight security to the cells.
Panic gripped county government officers as county legal team made vicious attempts to save Onchana, a long time County Secretary.
Complaint Alloys Moseti, a former Kisii Town Mayor, who unsuccessfully contested fir Kemera ward in 2017, won a suit against the county government over unlawful dismissal from duty and was subsequently awarded Sh1.6 million by a Kericho court.
But with the delay in payment, Mr Moseti obtained warrant of arrest thus leading to Onchana's dramatic arrest.
"It's simple, let the abide by court orders. It's several months since a ruling was made but no payment has been done.
"They were in contempt of court so let's meet in court. You can't violate court orders and expect to walk free around," Mr Moseti said when contacted.
After a night in police cells, Onchana was on Wednesday morning moved to Kericho High Court where he's expected to be arraigned.
Several county government officials were seen making their way to Kericho to at least save their boss, who could be thrown to remand.
Before his dismissal from service in 2014, Mr Moseti worked as a political advisor to Governor John Nyagarama, a position which SRC contested.
