In his new book Treason: The Case Against Tyrants and Renegades, Miguna writes that Muthama felt that Kalonzo was supposed to be part of the swearing in as a show of unity, but Raila went on and took the oath.

“I don’t think that time is right. The timing doesn’t look right for me. Kalonzo is not here. That is enough reason to wait,”  Miguna quotes the ex-senator in an excerpt in his book.

The activist cum politician also revealed that there were tense moments before the opposition leader went ahead to take the oath.

He records that the Nairobi businessman Jimmy Wanjigi was among the leaders who were scared of the oathing consequences.

Miguna narrates how Wanjigi imitated Raila's trembling hours before the event.

He notes that he called his name before leaving them in stitches ahead of the swearing in.

“Later, as we were walking to the elevator, Wanjigi turned to me and said, “Generaaaaal!” I looked at him, he started imitating a man shaking like a leaf. We all laughed,” Miguna writes.
