Dr Nyikal holds two masters degrees in medicine (paediatrics) from the University of Nairobi and a certificate of tropical medicine from Monash Medical Centre, Melbourne Australia which he acquired in 1992.

He has been the legislator for Seme sub-county since March 2013 and the people of Seme don’t love him just because of his strong academic background, but also dedication in implementing development programmes and treating his constituents equally without minding their social class, religious affiliations or other ethnic factors.

“Dr Nyikal is one of a kind, he understands his role as a legislator well and always goes out of the way to make sure he fully understands the needs of his people and stand beside them in good and bad times”, said Arnold Oloo, a Seme constituent who resides in Kisumu.

Oloo described Dr Nyikal as the appropriate choice for Seme who the residents will never regret voting for.

His sentiments were echoed by Norah Auma, an ardent supporter of the lawmaker who doubles up as a Seme constituent.

“I am proud to be represented in parliament by a scholar who understands why he was elected and always gives the government’s big four agenda a priority, it is no doubt Seme is gradually improving under his leadership," said Auma.

She went ahead to applaud the lawmaker for being on the forefront to support the handshake which has seen peace and tranquillity thrive within the country.

"He has been on the forefront supporting the handshake and was among the legislators who gave president Uhuru Kenyatta a warm welcome when he visited Kisumu county a few months ago and launched the universal healthcare program," added Auma.

Dr Nyikal who is a close ally of Raila has been known by many in different quarters for his advocacy on improved health care in Sem and across the country.
