Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba has asked chiefs and community policing officers in villages to ensure children loitering around are arrested.
Mariba said the move will help to know pupils who sat for KCPE exams last year but, they are yet to report to form one.
"Chiefs should not spare any child loitering in villages during school time. The children will be arrested so that they can help police officers to nab their parents who have failed to take them to school," he said.
The county security boss warned chiefs against sleeping on the job, saying it is a new dawn in Nyamira County.
"Nyamira is not the same people have been knowing. It should be a changed Nyamira. Parents need to put their children's education first," said Mariba.
He urged parents to be responsible and report their children who refuses to go to school to be dealt with by police.
"Parents, guardians should not keep quiet. Police are on high alert to apprehend children who don't want to go to school so that they can be taken to juvenile prison," he added.
