The MP said Kenyatta should have listened to Kenyans' 'cries' and suspended the bill.

According to the MP,  the Finance Bill 2018 that imposes eight percent VAT on fuel will condemn Kenyans to poverty.

Nguna says the President should have read the atmosphere and sided with Kenyans instead of rushing to sign the bill.

“Kenyans are frustrated and the President should have considered their interests before he signed the bill into Law,” Nguna said.

He addressed the locals in Mwingi town on Saturday.

The Wiper MP said the Finance Bill 2018 will see the cost of living hike as the government collects more taxes.

“Kenyans are already overburdened with taxes and the government move to impose more levies is an economic punishment to the poor people,” Nguna added.

Nguna asked Kenyans to adjust and tighten their safety belts since the bill is now Law.

Kenyatta signed the bill into Law on Friday after it was approved by parliament on Thursday.

Majority of MPs had opposed the VAT and instead proposed for its suspension for two years.
