Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has apologized to the county health workers on behalf of MCAs.
Kibwana on Saturday apologized to the health practitioners from Makueni Referral Hospital after they demonstrated against the MCAs demanding an apology.
The workers were on Friday protesting against Wote/Nziu MCA Felix Mateso whom they accused of insulting them.
Speaking at Emali in Makueni County, Kibwana said the incident between the MCA and the nurses was regrettable and would be solved harmoniously.
He called for closer working relations between the executive and the county assembly for better service delivery to the locals.
"Personally, I want to apologize to our nurses and MCAs for the misunderstanding between them that fueled yesterday's demonstrations," Kibwana said.
"My wish is to work closely and harmoniously with members of the county assembly to successfully implement the Makueni Universal Health Coverage," he added.
The governor said he would compel the county's Health Executive Committee Member to sit with MCAs and resolve any matters arising in the health docket for harmonious working relations.
Kibwana urged the MCAs to adequately plan for visits to health facilities for oversight purposes to avoid a repeat of the misunderstandings witnessed last week with health workers.
He had attended the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Nzaui branch's Annual General Meeting (AGM).
On Friday, operations at Makueni Referral Hospital went to a standstill after nurses and clinical officers took to the streets demanding an apology.
This is after their 72-hour ultimatum to the MCA to apologize to them expired.
The nurses were angered by the MCA's claims at the assembly that they were not doing their work well after his demand at the facility for his sick relative to be given special treatment was turned down.
