A family in the area had been attacked by a gang of four at night and three girls raped, a granny killed and an old man injured.

One day after the incident which angered residents, Lang’at visited the home early in the morning and told villagers that he was among the gang.

Irked residents lynched him.

It has now, however, emerged that Lang’at might have been mentally ill.

This, according to some residents, might have led him to claim he was one of the gang members.

Langat, 24, graduated with the Maseno University School of Education class of 2018.

“The late has been healthy in his first year in university until he finished after which he started complaining of memory loss. He used to disappear from university and was one time found naked at Ahero,” his family said.
