It doesn’t matter the duration which a relationship lasted when it comes to the pain of breakups. While there’s no specific way to deal with such pain, a good coping mechanism can lead you to get over your ex and moving on with your life. The following are the ways to survive various types of break-ups:
Break-ups that comes out of nowhere
Sometimes your relationship can be at its peak. At the time you are fantasizing about it, you are just told it’s over. While this can be so crushing to your heart, Psychologist Madeleine Mason Roantree, director of relationship psychology services at Vida Consultancy Ltd, advises one to take some time to reflect on what has happened. Going out with friends and spending time on dating apps can make you survive it easily.
The one that naturally fizzles
It’s a break-up that you knew it was not going anywhere. It’s characterized by dullness and is uninteresting. Mason believes that it’s a very easy break-up to deal with.
“Don't wait for the other person to call it, communicate that it’s not going anywhere and that it’s best that you both move on,” she advises as quoted by the Independent.
Break-up where someone did something awful
Cheating or physical abuse can be the reason for such break-ups. Do not blame yourself in such situation as it has nothing to do with you. Just say what you want, delete contacts and completely break away.
