DP William Ruto is said to have called DCI George Kinoti over the plot but he's yet to make a formal complaint to facilitate investigations.

Energy Principal Secretary Joseph Njoroge, Petroleum PS Andrew Kamau and head of Presidential Delivery Unit Andrew Wakahiu all recorded statements on Monday.

Powerful Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho of Interior is said to have been the architect of the meeting at La Mada Hotel along Thika Road.

However, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria claims that he initiated the La Mada meetings with top leaders from Mt Kenya who are in government.

“This whole meeting of La Mada including the choice of the hotel, I’m the one who initiated it because I am the coordinator of development in our region. Let us believe the investigative agencies are going to tell us the truth. Once they give us the truth it’ll be a turning point for this country,” said Mr Kuria.

Four ministers had also been dragged to the saga. Trade and Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya on Monday dismissed the allegations as wild.

“They have confirmed to us that the DP made a call and complained that some Cabinet secretaries and some other Government officers have been meeting at La Mada and gave us a specific date of May 14, and that (in the) meeting there were plans that were being hatched to kill him."

“These are very serious allegations especially coming from a person of the stature of a DP occupying an extremely powerful and important office in the land. I would expect somebody in that office to do a proper investigation before making unsubstantiated and wild allegations of that nature,” he said.

The latest twist of events could further drag President Uhuru Kenyatta's government, despite his frequent calls to have leaders focusing on service delivery.
