The management of Leopard Beach Resort and Spa in Diani is counting losses after huge fire broke out at the hotel at around 11pm on Sunday.
Reports indicate that the fire was caused by fireworks during a Hindu wedding celebration at the stylish and cosmopolitan resort located in Ukunda, Kwale County.
The fireworks reportedly fell on a 'makuti'-thatched cottage before spreading so fast to other structures.
Fire fighters arrived at scene with two engines as evacuation of the guests continued.
Confirming the incident, Msambweni OCPD Joseph Chebusit said no injuries had been reported and that efforts to put the fast razing fire were successful few minutes to 1 am.
Kijiji, Governor and Warandale cottages were the most affected structures.
