With more than four years remaining to the next general elections, the race to succeed Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi whose term comes to an end in 2022 is already starting to gain momentum with the county’s political bigwigs angling for the coveted seat.
A fierce battle pitting Kilifi North MP Owen Baya and his Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa may shape up the county’s political trajectory going into the 2022 contest.
Baya, a first-time MP has already declared his interest to go for the seat and Jumwa has also given indications that she will try her luck.
The duo could be headed for a clash if their Sunday ‘altercation’ in front of the Deputy President William Ruto is anything to go by.
While endorsing Baya for the top seat come 2022, one of the voters recited a poem that was seemingly pushing the lawmaker’s political agenda.
