Dr Ruto seemingly been uncomfortable with the partnership between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, insisting that the whole idea is to sabotage his 2022 presidential bid.

But on Sunday in Murang'a, Kutuny asked Ruto to come slow on the handshake, adding that the DP should lie low and closely work with the two leaders if he wants to survive in politics.

"If you say the handshake is out to hurt you, but for us it's more of bringing people together, then we don't care on what you think about it. If it will hurt your theft and boost Kenyans economically, we shall support it.

"When you see Uhuru and Raila working together, you should be careful. That storm might sweep you away. Just embrace the two for your own benefit," Kutuny said during the function.

Mr Kutuny, his Nandi Hills counterpart Alfred Keter and Moiben's Silas Tiren, have been leading onslaught against Dr Ruto in the greater Rift Valley region, accusing him of orchestrating maize farming woes.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have persistently denied claims that the handshake targets Ruto's political fortunes. Uhuru has particularly emphasized that the fight against corruption is one of his major targets.

Last week, Uhuru visited Ruto's Harambee House Annex where they held private talks. Local media claimed that Uhuru had gone to psychologically prepare Ruto of the impending arrests of high profile individuals.
